How Do You Ride the Waves -- A Poem

“How Do You Ride the Waves?”

I am barely treading water

Head goes under: sink deep sink down

I reach for the sky, only ocean surrounds

Sometimes the tide goes in

Sometimes the tide goes out

How do you ride the waves?

Salt water in my lungs again

I choke for air: breathe in breathe out

I stop breathing now, the deluge arrives

Sometimes the current slows

Sometimes the current speeds

How do you ride the waves?

The air can’t penetrate the deep

Dead man floating, under above

The sky reaches down, feel the breath of life

Sometimes the ocean swells

Sometimes the ocean dwells

How do you ride the waves?
